Tips on Managing Your Student Loan Debt
- Understand your student loan balance and repayment options by logging in to studentaid.gov. For private loans, check with your specific private loan servicer.
- Contact your student loan servicer with any questions and develop a plan for repayment before you graduate. If you don’t know who your servicer is, log on to studentaid.gov and visit the “My Loan Servicers” section of your dashboard.
- After you have created an account and repayment plan with your student loan servicer, select auto debit for monthly payments. This will allow your loan payments to be automatically withdrawn from your bank account every month.
- When life happens, work with your student loan servicer to make any necessary adjustments to your repayment plan.
